Karplus-Strong synthesis

Karplus-Strong synthesis is a simple physical modelling technique. At its most basic, it involves filling a delay line the length of one cycle of the frequency you want to produce with noise, and damping the feedback. If you apply a lowpass filter to the feedback loop, the harmonic content of the waveform gradually is reduced. This can be used to give a good rendition of plucked or hammered strings.
